John Paul Romanick III, age 55, of Long Grove, passed away on Friday, July 12, 2024, surrounded by family, following a lengthy fight with cancer. Funeral services will be held on Saturday the 20th of July, at the Runge Mortuary and Crematory on 838 E. Kimberly Rd. Davenport, IA 52807, (563) 391-6202. Visitation will be held from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m., service at 2 p.m., with lunch to follow. Memorials may be made to the family to later be distributed to John’s favorite charities. John was born Oct. 9, 1968, in Philadelphia, Pa., to John Paul Romanick Jr. and Beverly Ann (Sue) Chetsko. In 1987, he graduated from Bloomington High School, Ill. He earned a bachelor of science in mechanical engineering from the University of Illinois in 1992. In 2003, he received a master of business administration degree at the University of Chicago. He began working for John Deere as an engineer in Waterloo, followed by several management positions. For 32 years, his employment took him across Iowa; Woodstock, Canada; and Tokoroa, New Zealand. He retired from Deere and Company in 2019 and went on to co-found the Quad Cities’ first hard cidery: Bridgehouse Cider. John married Dianna (Meyer) in Waterloo on the 20th of July, 1996.
He loved spending time with his family, fostering his children’s interests, woodworking, fishing, mountain biking, scuba diving, and perfecting the perfect pizza dough.
John will be dearly missed by his wife, children Alan, Grace, Natalie, and Sean, parents, John and Sue, and brother, Michael.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents and two uncles.
