Obituary: John Miller

John Webster Miller, 92, of Eldridge, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, April 6, 2021, surrounded by loving family members. 

Due to Covid concerns, a private family service will be held, with a celebration of life including friends at a later date.   The service will be live streamed for those not in attendance.  A link can be found on the Runge Mortuary and Crematory website.  Memorials may be made in John’s name to the Eldridge Fire Department, the Eldridge Police Department, and/or the Medic EMS of Eldridge. John was born on Aug. 16, 1928, in Evansville, Ind., to Stephen Miller and Lenna Said. On June 2, 1951, he was united in marriage to “Bert” Bertha Ann Schmidt. They went on to enjoy 67 happy years of marriage together. John and Bert enjoyed taking care of their family and loved family gatherings. They loved the adventure of camping, fishing, traveling, and playing cards with friends and family. John had a passion for gardening and enjoyed sharing his bounty with others. 

Those left to cherish his memory include his children, Rick (Viki) Miller, Ron (Kelli) Miller, and Deonne (Brian) Murphy; grandchildren: Brandon (Molli) Miller, Marcia (Shane) Regula, Jordan Miller, Jacquelynne Miller, Austin Miller, Adrienne Miller, Adam (Sophie) Gallotta, Laura (Wesley) Platt, and Scott (Nina) Murphy; and great-grandchildren: Shannon Murphy, Jonathan Murphy, Henry Gallotta, Rowen Regula, and Valerie Miller.  

He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Bert; parents, Stephen and Lenna Miller; siblings: Florence Gibson, Edith Lubben, Helen Eaton, Steve Miller, AnnaMary Kunde, and twin brother, Joe H. Miller.
