Obituary: Jill Kuhl

Jill T. Kuhl, 78, a resident of Burlington, and formerly of Eldridge, died on Thursday, May 4, 2023, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in West Burlington.

A memorial service was held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 13, at Chambers Funeral Home in Eldridge.  The burial was in Pine Hill Cemetery in Davenport.  Visitation was from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.  Memorials may be made to Faith Lutheran Church of Eldridge, where she was a former member, or Our Savior Lutheran Church of Burlington, where she recently attended.

She was born in Rock Island on Feb. 16, 1945, the daughter of Cecil and Darlene (Hennessy) Judd.  On June 30, 2001, she was united in marriage to John A. Kuhl in Eldridge.  He preceded her in death on May 25, 2022.

In earlier years, Jill was employed as a social worker with the Mental Health Institute in Mt. Pleasant.  She was an accomplished country and western singer and had a record published in Nashville in 1978 entitled “The Undertaker Will Have a Hard Time Wiping the Smile Off My Face” and on the flip side, “Just Before You Go.”

Those left to honor her memory include her children, Heather (Al) Baer of Sherrard, Ill., Nathan (Renee) Fawcett of Cedar Rapids, Jud (Erin) Fawcett of Burlington, and Adam (Amanda) Fawcett of Burlington; her grandchildren, Amanda, Megan, Breyden, Blayde, Hunter, Tanner, Katlyn, Ross, Noah, Liam, Owen, Alivia, Alex and Ava; several great-grandchildren; and her sisters, Linda Albright in Wisconsin, and Ann Meek of Donahue.
