Jackson “Jack” Schneckloth, 16, of North Liberty, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, March 23, 2023.

Jack was born on Sept. 20, 2006, to Nick and Alison Schneckloth in Iowa City. As a child, Jack loved watching Hawkeye sports, playing outside with his friends, and spending time with his parents and little brother, Will. As he grew up, he found enjoyment exploring the world of athletics, playing baseball, basketball, and football. Summers were spent traveling to visit family, watching St. Louis Cardinal games, and spending time with his brother and friends. Throughout the years, Jack remained dedicated to athletics and found his passion for football. As a member of the Liberty High School football team, #51 could be found under the lights on Friday nights playing defensive end.

While in school, “Schnecky” was a well-loved classmate, described as being funny, caring, kind to those around him, and a friend to everyone. He often spent his spare time with friends having fun, playing video games, and keeping an eye on his younger brother, Will. Jack’s sweet and selfless personality made him the best son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, friend, classmate, and teammate to those lucky enough to be a part of his life.

Jack’s family includes his parents, Nick and Alison; brother, Will; grandparents, Dan and Jana Schneckloth of Eldridge, and Ralph (Bud) and Terrie Gearhart of Massillon, Ohio; numerous aunts, uncles, and many, many cousins from Ohio, Iowa, and Mississippi.

Jack was preceded in death by grandmothers, Dawn Schneckloth and Phyllis Gearhart, and uncle Dane Schneckloth.

Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday, March 30, at the Grace Community Church (2707 Dubuque Street NE in North Liberty). Following services, a time to celebrate Jack will be held in the fellowship area of the church.  Graveside services will take place at the Ridgewood Cemetery in North Liberty on Friday at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given at the services or through the funeral home to be used to sponsor local kids to play youth sports who otherwise may not have the opportunity.
