Obituary: Herbert Kuehl

Herbert H. Kuehl, 93, of Donahue, passed away on Thursday, June 5, 2025, at Grand Haven Retirement Community in Eldridge.

His funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, June 11 (today), at Park View Lutheran Church.  Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday at the church.  Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park.  A Celebration of Life following the burial will be held at the Dixon American Legion from 4 to 7 p.m.  Memorials may be made to the American Legion Post 353 of Dixon or to the Donahue Sportsmen’s Club.

Herb was born Aug. 30, 1931, in Davenport, the son of Richard and Theresa (Jurgens) Kuehl.  He served in the Army during the Korean Conflict.  Herb was united in marriage to Joann R. Brus on Oct. 29, 1955, in Davenport.  She preceded him in death on Oct. 12, 2005.

Herb was a life-long farmer in Donahue for many years.  His memberships included the Dixon American Legion, where he had recently become a 65-year member, the Donahue Sportsmen’s Club, where he was past-president, the Walcott Community Club and the Elks Lodge.  He had played softball in the 30+ league for many years, and he bowled in the Tri-County mixed league.

Herb enjoyed spending time and traveling with his special companion, Judy Mumm, for the last 18 years.   Herb also recently attended the Honor Flight of the Quad-Cities. He enjoyed his Sunday outings to the casinos and always enjoyed driving his trucks, particularly his latest red truck.

Those left to honor his memory include his daughter and son-in-law, Michelle and Dan Glunz of Long Grove; his son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Lisa Kuehl of Donahue; his grandchildren, Clint (Erin) Glunz, Kara (Tim) Hamann, Trevor and Tarynn Kuehl and Jeremy Timmerman; his great-grandchildren, Kollin, Riley and Paisley Hamann, Addison and Jordan Glunz, and Kaden, Karver and Kallen Timmerman; and his special friend, Judy Mumm of Davenport. 

In addition to his wife, Joann, Herb was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Helen Albrecht; and his brother, Harvey Kuehl.
