Obituary: Daniel Ion

Daniel W. Ion, 52, of Princeton, passed away on Thursday, July 22, 2021, at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics in Iowa City.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 28 (today), at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf.  Visitation was held on Tuesday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.  Burial will be in McCausland Cemetery in McCausland.  Memorials may be made to the family.

Dan was born April 30, 1969, in Davenport, the son of Larry G. Sr. and Katherine E. (Kunde) Ion.  He was a graduate of North Scott High School.  Dan was united in marriage to Melissa M. Fisher on Aug. 4, 1990, at Zion Lutheran Church in Princeton.  He had been employed as a heavy equipment operator for Centennial Contractors of the Quad-Cities for several years.

Dan enjoyed the outdoors; fishing, camping and farming.  He also enjoyed socializing at the B S General Store in Camanche.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Melissa; his daughters, Amanda (Zach) Ralfs of Maysville, and Madison (Bailey) Trude of Bettendorf, both of whom are expecting Dan and Melissa’s grandchildren; his parents, Larry and Katherine Ion of Princeton; his sisters, Kristine (Dave) Ion-Rood of Davenport and Larrieann (Waldemar) Pagan of Wesley Chapel, Fla.; his brother, Larry (Paula) Ion Jr. of La Crosse, Wis.; many nieces and nephews; and his great-niece, Brooke.
