Cass was born in Lake Mills, on Sept. 14, 1940, the daughter of Robert and Phyllis (Kinder) Stewart. She graduated from Hampton High School with the Class of 1958. Cass married William Christensen in 1959 and later married Nick Needham on June 7, 1985.
Cass worked for B&W Foods in Hampton, Grimes, and Greene, where she made lasting friendships. Later, she and her husband, Nick, helped manage an ostrich farm in Charles City - an adventure that showcased her open heart for new experiences. Faith was the cornerstone of Cass’s life. She served faithfully in many roles including choir member, Bible School leader, and Sunday School teacher. Cass was a member of The Bethel Global Methodist Church in Sigourney. She especially cherished her role as a Pastor’s wife, offering steadfast support and ministry alongside her husband.
Cass found joy in the simple pleasures of life - sharing morning coffee with her neighbors in Greene, golfing with friends, camping, and exploring the country on motorcycle trips, including memorable visits to the Hopi Native American Reservation. In her quiet moments, she enjoyed reading a good book or watching westerns. Above all, Cass adored her family. She never missed her grandchildren’s sporting events, graduations, or special milestones.
