Arleen Eleanor Brus, age 96, of Walcott, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2024, at Silvercrest Garner Senior Living, Davenport. A funeral service was held at 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 12, at Bentley Funeral Home, Durant. A visitation was held from 10-11:30 a.m., prior to the service at the funeral home. Arleen was born on Aug. 19, 1928, the daughter of Bernard and Eleanor (Dillon) Siefers in Davenport. She graduated from Davenport Central High School with the Class of 1946. Arleen married Melvin R. Brus on Oct. 28, 1950, in Patuxent River, Md. Melvin passed away on Sept. 9, 2012.
Arleen dedicated 37 years to Central Petroleum Company in Walcott. She was a former member of the Moose Lodge in Davenport, where she enjoyed socializing and participating in community events. Arleen found joy in her collections. She had a special love for her pets and her stuffed animals. She took pride in her collection of Isabel Blooms and ornamental bells. Her friends and family will remember her fondly for her gentle spirit and love of collecting. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Arleen will be dearly missed by her daughter, Linda (Jack) Kostichek of Walcott; sons, John Brus of Stockton and Andrew (Sue) Brus of Walcott; daughter-in-law, Terry Brus of Leoma, Tenn., seven grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Arleen was preceded in death by her husband, Mel; infant twins, Richard and Ann; her son, Michael Brus; a daughter in-law, Lynn Brus; and her brother, Richard Siefers, Sr.
