Andrew Edmond Brus, age 69, of Walcott, passed away on Monday, Feb. 17, 2025, at Genesis East Medical Center, Davenport. A visitation was held from 4-7 p.m., Friday, Feb. 21, at Bentley Funeral Home, Durant. A funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 22, at the funeral home. Andy was born on June 21, 1955, the son of Melvin and Arleen (Siefers) Brus in Davenport. He graduated from Davenport West High School with the Class of 1973. Andy married Susan Rohlf on Sept. 12, 1975, in Walcott.
Andy was a hardworking, kindhearted man who never met a stranger and was always willing to lend a helping hand. He dedicated 42 years to Ralston/Nestle Purina in Davenport, retiring in 2016. A proud member of the Walcott Community Club, he loved connecting with his community, whether it was clearing a neighbor’s snowy driveway or building a sandbox for kids.
Andy was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan and loved rooting for the Chicago Cubs, especially on memorable bus trips with his daughter, Carrie, to watch them play. In his free time, he enjoyed collecting coins and spending time with his beloved dog, Casey. Known for his good-natured teasing and a bit of stubbornness, Andy had a way of making people smile. Most of all, Andy treasured spending time with his family, creating lasting memories filled with laughter and love.
Andrew will be dearly missed by his wife, Sue; two daughters, Carrie Brus and Kate (Ryan) Heid; one grandddaughter, Charlotte; one sister, Linda (Jack) Kostichek; a brother, John Brus; a sister-in-law, Terry Brus; and several nieces and nephews.
Andrew was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Arleen; one brother, Michael Brus; and a sister-in-law, Lynn Brus.
