Obituary: Agnes Bolte

Agnes Ellen Bolte, age 92, of rural Walcott, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2020, at her home. The private family service will be streamed via Bentley Funeral Home Facebook page at approximately 10:45 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 7.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Walcott Fire Department.  Online condolences may be left at www.bentleyfuneralhome.com.

Agnes was born in Davenport on June 19, 1928, a daughter of Henry and Katherine (Buol) Brus.  She graduated from Davenport High School, graduating with the Class of 1945.  Agnes married Elmer Bolte on April 23, 1949, in St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, Davenport.  Elmer died on Oct. 30, 2003.

Agnes first worked at the Blue Grass Bank, before becoming a homemaker and driving tractors in the field.  She also worked at M.A. Ford, Davenport and Wendy’s at I-80 Truckstop.  Agnes enjoyed watching the Chicago Cubs, Green Bay Packers and the Iowa Hawkeyes. Agnes also enjoyed gardening and baking for her family.  Most of all, Agnes treasured spending time with her grandchildren.

Agnes will be dearly missed by her four children, Craig (Lori) Bolte of Park View, Diane Bolte of Clinton, Blane (Christine) Bolte of rural Walcott, and Lisa (Richard) Smith of Draper, Utah; five grandchildren, Jennifer (Brett) Coverdill of Moline, Shelly (Justin) Pauley of Macedon, N.Y., Kimberly Bolte of Clarence, Katherine “Katie” Bolte of Des Moines, and Ty Bolte of North Liberty; three step-grandchildren, Angie Haight of Davenport, Carli (Matt) Ward of Lyndon, Ill., and Mackenzie (Jake) Askew of Bennett; and five great-grandchildren, Kyle, Ashlyn, Lawson, Christopher, and Alivia; and several nieces and nephews.

Agnes was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer; one brother, Henry Harold Brus, Jr; and one sister, Kathaleen Shanks.
