Homecoming Days festival lights up Blue Grass Friday and Saturday

Blue Grass welcomes family and friends home for homecoming days celebrations Friday and Saturday with food, fireworks, live music and a parade headed by grand marshals, Blue Grass dentist Dr. Phil and Tracy Bayne.

Homecoming Days kicks off Friday with a 6 p.m. kids one-mile fun run, and 7 p.m. 5K run or walk. Packet pick up is 5-6 p.m. Thursday at the Blue Grass Community Club.

Food and the kids fun zone open at 5 p.m., with live music from Code 415 at 7:30 p.m.

Saturday’s parade lines up beginning at 9:30 a.m. at Blue Grass Savings Bank, then kicks off at 10:30 a.m.

The pavilion pub and food vendors open at noon for a day of activities. A craft show runs noon to 4 p.m. in the community center.

Jenny’s Dance academy performs at 12:30 p.m.

Golf cart/ATV rodeo is at 2:30 p.m. Sign up at 1 p.m.

Kids firefighter water fights are at 3 p.m.

Drop off entries for the cupcake contest 1 to 3 p.m. Winners are announced at 4 p.m., with an auction at 7:30 p.m.

At 7:45 p.m., the lighted golf carts line up for a parade, that culminates in a golf cart raffle and homecoming drawing.

Live music from Greg Hall & the Wrecking Balls begins at 8:10 p.m., with a break for fireworks at dusk.
