Dorla Schroder to mark 90th birthday with open house

Dorla Schroder is celebrating her upcoming 90th birthday! Dorla J. Schroder was born Aug. 7, 1931, in Clinton. She married the late Norman Schroder on Feb. 17, 1951, in Princeton.

She was a teacher, taught in a one-room country school. Later she was a nurse’s aid and worked in a nursing home and also for the visiting nurses. Dorla had a strong desire to help and assist people to live at home for as long as they could.

In her spare time, Dorla has spent a lot of her time working in her garden and canning, maintaining many flower gardens, attending church and bible studies, watching many great-grandchildren activities, cross stitching and sewing, along with following the Chicago Cubs on WGN. 

Dorla is the mother of Ned (Deena) Schroder of Princeton, Honda (Jim) Bielefeldt of Branchburg, N.J., Sally (Rusty) Moore of Springfield, Ill. Her grandchildren are Chad Schroder, Toby Schroder, Kelcy Hanson, Sean Bielefeldt, Joel Bielefeldt, and Casey Caskey, along with 16 great-grandchildren.

You’re invited to come join and celebrate Schroder’s 90th birthday on Sunday, Aug. 8, at the McCausland Church fellowship hall from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. If you are unable to attend the open house, cards are welcome to be sent to 24125 Bluff Road, Princeton, Iowa 52768.
