Alberta “Bertie” Bernick, 96, of Walcott, passed away on July 9, 2023, at Grand Haven Retirement Community in Eldridge, where she spent her last few months. Alberta’s beloved home was the farm where she was born June 13, 1927, to Albert and Emma (Soenke) Illian, and where she and her husband, Gene, farmed for more than 60 years and raised their five children.   more

Mary L. Strohbehn, 52, formerly of Donahue, died Monday, May 8, 2023, in Hemet, Calif. Mary fought a short and courageous battle with cancer. Per her wishes, cremation rites were accorded, and a private family burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 21, in the Long Grove Cemetery. more

Lucille Carma Meyer, age 83, of Durant, passed away on Sunday, July 9, 2023, at Davenport Lutheran Home.
