Sept. 18, 1980: Phase One of a plan to develop 42 acres of parkland in north Eldridge was under way. Two baseball diamonds would be ready for play by the spring. Eldridge Park Board member Butch Blanche also said dirt work was complete, and the south entry road was graded and ready to be graveled. It was estimated that the park, which would later be known as Sheridan Meadows, would be complete in five to six years.
