There were two basic problems for the Lancer boys’ basketball team in Friday night’s rematch with the Pleasant Valley Spartans: offense and defense. Add that the Spartans were white-hot shooting when it mattered most, and it added up to a 51-33 defeat for the Lancers, Coach Shamus Budde's most lopsided loss in recent memory.

Shamus Budde was right. After watching his team come out of the holiday break with a convincing 62-46 win over Central DeWitt on Tuesday (Jan. 5), he warned that there will be nights when it will be hard for his team to score.
