Carma Jane Schwarz, 92, of Davenport, died on Friday, Feb. 15, 2019 at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City.

Visitation will be held on Friday, Feb. 22 from 4 to 7 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Davenport.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church.

Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church or the Walcott American Legion Auxiliary.

Carma was born in Mt. Joy on Feb. 26, 1926 to Edward and Etta (Sabin) Runge.

Carma married Harvey D. Schwarz on June 15, 1946 at the home of her aunt in rural Eldridge. He preceded her in death on Nov. 5, 2010.

Carma worked at Younkers as a seamstress. She enjoyed playing cards, bowling, reading, crafts, ceramics, making porcelain dolls, traveling and loved sewing.

She was active in the American Legion Auxiliary #548 and Pythian Sisters, where she held many offices, Golden Wedding Club, Nifty Fifty card club and St. Paul Lutheran Church.

Carma is survived by her children: Doretta (Craig) Hipple of Roswell, New Mexico, Calvin (Sharon) Schwarz of Davenport, Carolyn Herbst of Asheville, North Carolina, Kenneth (Janet) Schwarz of Walcott, Myra Davis (Ken McElmeel) of Iowa City, Michael Schwarz (Debbie Hillberg) of Davenport, Rhea (Kurt) Wolf of Dunlap, Illinois and Denise (Brian) Timmerman of New Liberty; 17 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; one great great-grandson; her sister Velda Arp of Tipton and sister-in-law Bernice Runge of Davenport.

She was preceded in death by her husband, two grandchildren and her brother William Runge Sr.
