Muscatine County urging absentee primary voting due to COVID-19

Editor’s note: The following was sent by Muscatine County Auditor Leslie Soule:
Due to COVID-19, Muscatine County polling places have been temporarily combined for the Primary Election to be held June 2. For the health and safety of our voters and precinct officials, I strongly encourage every voter to consider voting an absentee ballot for this election. The deadline to request an absentee ballot by mail is Friday, May 22.
If you choose to vote in person on Election Day, six polling sites will be open. Precincts will be assigned to one of the six polling sites. (three in Muscatine, one in Fruitland, one in West Liberty and one in Wilton) The sites and precinct assignments are posted on the auditor’s page on the county’s website www.co.muscatine.ia.us and will be published through various resources throughout the county between now and June 2.

If a person chooses to vote in person on June 2, polling sites will be open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the sites below.
Location One — Muscatine Community School Administration Building (left side of room), 2900 Mulberry Ave., Muscatine. Includes the following Precincts: Muscatine First, Second, Third and Fourth.
Location Two — Muscatine Community School Administration Building (right side of room), 2900 Mulberry Ave., Muscatine. Includes the following Precincts: Muscatine Fifth, Sixth, Seventh and Eighth.
Location Three — Muscatine Community College - McAvoy Center, 1403 Park Ave., Muscatine. Includes the following Precincts: Muscatine Ninth, Muscatine Tenth, Bloomington and Sweetland.
Location Four — Fruitland Community Center, 104 Sand Run Rd., Fruitland. Includes the following Precincts: Fruitland One, Fruitland Two/Lake and Seventy-Six/Cedar.
Location Five — West Liberty Community Center, 1204 N. Calhoun St., West Liberty. Includes the following Precincts: *West Liberty/Wapsie, *West Liberty 2, Goshen (including Atalissa), Orono (including Conesville) and Pike (including Nichols). *West Liberty 1 & 2/Wapsi Polling Places have been permanently moved to the West Liberty Community Center.
Location Six — Wilton Community Center, 1215 Cypress St., Wilton. Includes the following Precincts: Wilton City, Wilton/Moscow (including Durant) and Fulton/Montpelier (including Stockton and Blue Grass).
