Fatal car crash along Highway 38

According to a report from the Iowa State Patrol, on Jan. 28, Ruth Janowski, 27, of Muscatine was driving a 2005 Mercury Sable, traveling westbound on 180th Street when it failed to obey a posted stop sign. The car collided with Marvin Palmer, 84, and Deloris Palmer, 79, both of New Boston, Illinois. Palmer was driving a 2010 Chevy Silverado and traveling southbound on Highway 38.

Janowski was transported to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics by the Muscatine Ambulance and died from injuries related to the crash. Marvin and Deloris were both transported to Trinity hospital in Muscatine by the Muscatine Ambulance.

The accident remains under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol – which was assisted by the Muscatine County Sheriff’s Office, Muscatine Ambulance and Wilton Fire Department.
