The Wilton-Durant Advocate News received three awards at the Iowa Newspaper Association’s annual convention and trade show Feb. 7-8 in Des Moines.

The Advocate News is classified as a Weekly Class III newspaper — the largest of the weekly divisions in the state of Iowa. Class III newspapers have circulations of 1,551 and above.

Competing in the Class III category, the Advocate News was named first place in the following advertising category: Best Ad Featuring Automotive, Boats, Aircraft, Tires, Gasoline, etc. — a full-page ad for Durant Collision (pictured) featuring staff, services and before/after shots. Judge’s comments: “Good organization of a lot of information. Color is beautiful, lending to a very clean look. Family photo encourages trust in these people. Before/after photo testifies to good work.”

The Advocate News was also named second place in the Best Newspaper Marketing category for a house Easter ad featuring eggs hidden within ads throughout the paper. Judges comments: “We’re always looking for ways to get readers to spend more time in our papers and this accomplishes that goal. Nice work!”

The Advocate News received third place in the Best Newspaper Website category. Judges comments: “Easily distinguished categories. Nice addition of high school social media on the page.”
