1,048 COVID-19 cases in Iowa; Death count at 26

DES MOINES — The Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH) has been notified of 102 additional positive COVID-19 cases for a total of 1,048 positive cases in the state of Iowa. There have been an additional 1,017 negative tests for a total of 11,670 negative tests to date, which includes testing reported by the State Hygienic Lab and other labs.

According to IDPH, one additional death was also reported: Benton County, 1 elderly adult (81+). There have been 26 deaths in Iowa.

Locally, there are 51 COVID-19 cases in Muscatine County, the sixth highest of all 99 counties. Cedar County has 13 cases. Linn County leads the state with 186 cases.

Nationally, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), there are 374,329 cases in the United States, with 12,064 deaths.

The state of Iowa has started sharing the number of negative tests conducted at outside labs, and is providing additional information on the conditions of those infected with COVID-19.
