Ozone measuring device placed near North Scott High School

June 23, 1977: A device to take readings of the amount of the ozone in the summer air was placed near North Scott High School by the Department of Environmental Quality, Des Moines. The device was mounted on a mobile laboratory trailer. Eldridge had been chosen as the location because ozone concentrations are first detected about three to five miles from a metropolitan area.
