Obituary: William Fox

A celebration of life service for William E. Fox, 85, of Pleasant Valley, was held from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 25, in the Runge Mortuary Chapel, Davenport. The family requested all attending to please wear green.

Mr. Fox died Monday, Nov. 19, 2018, at Genesis East Medical Center, Davenport.

William Fox was born April 22, 1933, in Centerville, Iowa, the son of Oris and Bertha (Wieringa) Fox.

He married Margaret Marquardt. She preceded him in death.

He served as a mechanic in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

He worked at Alcoa for over 30 years before retiring.

He was a 32nd degree Mason and drove as Grand Marshal for the St. Patrick’s Day parade.

His hobbies were motorcycles, stock car races, building and racing his own cars, waterskiing, and boating.

Survivors include a daughter, Deborah McCracken; nieces Nancy (Tim) Blackwell and Margie (Wyatt) Langley; and many nephews.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a sister, Irene Johnson; and his brothers, Andrew Fox, Jessie Fox, and Bob Fox.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
