Wesley K. Rock, 95, of Eldridge, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 12, 2020, at Grand Haven Retirement Home. Per his wishes cremation rights have been accorded. A memorial service was held at 12 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 18, at Trinity Cathedral Church, Davenport. Visitation was held from 11 a.m. until time of service. A luncheon followed the service and all were invited to attend. Memorials may be made to Trinity Cathedral Church or ARL of Iowa. Online condolences may be expressed at www.weertsfh.com.

Wes was born on Sept. 29, 1924, in Davenport to Edwin and Edna (Mohr) Rock. He was united in marriage to Georgene Garber on Feb. 18, 1950, in Davenport. After 69 years of marriage, she preceded him in death on June 8, 2019. Wes and Georgene operated the family century farm until their retirement in 2004.

Lovingly referred to as “Papa” by his grandchildren, Wes was defined by his hard work and fun-loving attitude. From cross-country road trips, to skiing the mountains of Colorado, he lived a life of adventure. His greatest joy was to share his experiences with his friends and family. After retiring at the age of 80, he spent much of his time riding horses, which he loved taking out on the local trails. There was never a more charming or magnetic person and he will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his daughter Denise; his son-in-law, Van Cline; and five grandchildren, Lauren Cline (Hunt Briggs), Alex Cline, Christian Cline, Katie Maher, Cassidy Maher, and two great-grandchildren, Wesley and Rowan Briggs.

He is preceded in death by his wife Georgene and his daughter, Christine.

A special thanks to the caregivers at Grand Haven and Heartland Hospice.
