Obituary: Ty Arp

A funeral service for Ty A. Arp, 42, of Walcott, was held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 31, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Davenport. Interment was in the Maysville Cemetery. Visitation was Friday, Aug. 30, from 4-7 p.m. at the Bentley Funeral Home, Durant.

Mr. Arp died Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2019, at The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City.

Ty Arp was born Feb. 11, 1977, in Davenport, the son of Loren and Hollie (Sinkler) Arp. He graduated from Durant High School in 1995 and from Scott Community College in 1998.

He married Michelle Walshire on Sept. 14, 2002, in Davenport.

He was a union journeyman electrician and farmed on the family century farm.

He was fire chief of the Maysville Volunteer Fire Department and the current president of the Scott County Fire Chiefs Association. He was a member of the Walcott Community Club, the Walcott Day Committee, and a founding member of the Association for Glycogen Storage Disease.

His hobbies were watching sports, going to auctions, working on projects, and building miniature farms.

Survivors include his wife; his children, Ashlyn, Dylan and Nolan; his mother, Hollie (Tony) Swain, Davenport; his sisters, Krista (Mike) Scaia, Jacksonville, Fla., and Amy (Greg) Hageman, Bettendorf; a half-sister, Abbi (Rory) Madden, Bettendorf; a half-brother, Michael (Jodi) Arp, McCausland; his mother-in-law, Sandra (Steven) Weber, Mechanicsville; his father-in-law, Jeffrey Walshire, Cedar Rapids; a sister-in-law, Jasmarina (Ben) McDaniel, Los Angeles, Calif.; and a brother-in-law, Jeremy Walshire (Robin Hoffman), Cedar Rapids.

He was preceded in death by his father and grandparents.

Memorials may be made to an educational fund for his children.
