Obituary: Teresa Higareda

A funeral Mass celebrating the life of Maria Teresa Higareda, 74, of Davenport, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 29 (today) at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, Bettendorf. Visitation was Tuesday, Nov. 28, from 4-7 p.m. at the Weerts Funeral Home, Davenport, with a vigil liturgy service at 4 p.m.

Mrs. Higareda died Friday, Nov. 24, 2017, at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf.

Maria Teresa Rábago was born Sept. 21, 1943, in Chiapas, México, the daughter of Agustín Rábago and Ma. Cristina Flores de Rábago.

She married Robert Higareda and the couple moved to Iowa. They lived in Eldridge and their children attended North Scott schools. They later divorced and he preceded her in death.

She worked many places during her life, including the former Jumer’s Castle Lodge, Farm & Fleet, Oscar Mayer, and APAC.

Her hobbies were cooking, gardening, fixing things around the house, and spending time with her family.

Survivors include her children, Cristina (Kevin) Zimmerman, Bettendorf, Maria (Chris) Jordan, Cary, Ill., and Rob (Lisa) Higareda, San Antonio, Texas; her grandchildren, Grant, Macie, and Charlie Zimmerman, and Colton and Lucas Jordan; and her sisters, Maria Cristina, Ma. de la Luz, Martha y Elsa María de Guadalupe Rábago Flores, all of Mexico.
