Susan “Sue” K. Bader, 67, of Ely, formerly of Mechanicsville, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2018, surrounded by her loving family.  Visitation was held on Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.  Services were held on Monday at 10 a.m. at Antioch Christian Church, with Pastors Luke Stockeland and Kip Morrow officiating.  Burial followed at Mount Vernon Cemetery.

Sue was born on April 2, 1951, to John and Annabelle (Breitbach) Lasche in Cascade, Iowa.  She was united in marriage to Rick Bader on Aug. 16, 1974.  Together they raised seven children.

Sue retired from Rockwell Collins after many years of service as an administrative assistant.  She showed her endearing love for people through her faith in God.  She was very active in her church, Victory in Grace, founding a jail ministry, and speaking to women.

Sue was a very passionate, genuinely caring person. She loved horses, traveling, and spending time with family and friends; especially her grandkids. Whether it be crafting, taking pictures, cousins camp … you could always find her in the center of the activity, leaving behind lots of special memories.

Sue never knew a stranger and was always very welcoming.  She will be forever remembered for her witness, faithfulness and positive outlook on life.  Sue was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother (“Baba”) and friend.

She is survived by her children, Jeff (Jeanine Simmons) Bader of DeWitt; Steve (Kasey) Bader of Fall River, Wis.; Angie (Ryan) Steen of Mt. Vernon; Drew (Andrea) Bader of Beaver Dam, Wis.; Anne (Luke) Stockeland of Columbia, Mo.; Jessica (Brandon) Horman of Ely; Luke (Lindsay) Bader of Beaver Dam; grandchildren, Dylan and Katelynn Simmons; Rickey Bader; Madelyn, Ashlyn, and Carly Steen; Brynlee and James Bader; Jarren, Jolee, Olivia, and Briella Stockeland; Beckam and Paxton Horman; and Charlie and Bentley Bader; siblings, Peggy Baca of Cedar Rapids; Rick (Janelle) Lasche of Columbus, Wis.; Mike (Jenny) Lasche of Neptune City, N.J.; and Jim Lasche of Palmyra, Mo., and many loving extended family members and friends.

Preceded in death by her husband and parents.
