A funeral service for Sharon Laverne Neilson, 72, of Davenport, was held at 9 a.m. Thursday, July 12, in the Chapel Mausoleum at Davenport Memorial Park, followed by burial. The Runge Mortuary, Davenport, assisted the family with arrangements.
Mrs. Neilson died Sunday, July 8, 2018, at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf.
Sharon Johnston was born Aug. 19, 1945, Davenport, the daughter of Laverne and Marianna (Rindler) Johnston. She graduated from Davenport High School in 1963.
She married Don Neilson.
Prior to her marriage, she was employed at The Quad-City Times. She lived with her family in Silvis, Ill., Minnesota, Chicago, and Virginia before returning to Davenport in 1993 to care for her mom.
Her hobbies were writing, reading, watching baseball, spending time with family and friends, and collecting heart and owl knick-knacks.
Survivors include her children, Todd (Younhui) Neilson and Tori (Paul) Simpson; a grandson, Jacob Simpson; and a sister, Kathleen (Don) Anderson.
Memorials may be made to the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House.
