Obituary: Ruth Morris

A Memorial Mass for Ruth Morris, 79, of Davenport, will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, June 28, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Davenport. Inurnment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Yankton, S.D. Visitation will be Wednesday, June 27 (today), from 4-7 p.m. at the Runge Mortuary, Davenport.

Mrs. Morris died Saturday, June 23, 2018.

Ruth Hasker was born Oct. 5, 1938, in Yankton, the daughter of Raymond and Ruth (Hladky) Hasker.

She married Charles Blanchard in 1972 in Rock Island. She later married Russell Morris in 1992.

She was a longtime teacher, including at DoD-dependent schools, and was an adjunct professor at St. Ambrose College. She retired from Scott Community College in 1999.

She was a member of AMATYC (a mathematical association for two-year colleges), a longtime participant of Women’s Health, and a volunteer at CASI, Humility of Mary, and other organizations.

Her hobbies were time drawing, visiting art museums, reading, and walking on the pedestrian trails.

Survivors include her sons, Timothy (Lynne) Blanchard, Wake Forest, N.C., and Michael Blanchard, Davenport; her grandchildren, Nicholas and Matthew; and her siblings, Harley Hasker, Sunnyvale, Calif., Elmer Hasker, Yankton, Vern (Rae Nell) Hasker, DeLand, Fla., and Verna Post, Cedar Falls.
