Obituary: Ruth Burke

A Memorial Mass for Ruth Ann Burke, 82, of Davenport, was held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 30, at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, Davenport. Visitation was Sunday, April 29, from 1-4 p.m. at the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport. Burial of her cremains will be Mother’s Day weekend in St. Irenaeus Cemetery, Clinton.

Mrs. Burke died Tuesday, April 24, 2018, at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf.

Ruth Boysen was born Feb. 10, 1936, in Clinton, the daughter of Harold and Mary Ann (Kossenjans) Boysen.

She married Francis “Al” Burke on Aug. 28, 1954. They later divorced.

She worked as a Realtor in the Quad Cities for 39 years.

She was a member of St. Anthony’s Parish and attended St. Paul the Apostle Church.

Her hobbies were being on the water, boating, traveling with family and friends, playing bridge, and camping.

Survivors include her children, John (Sue Ann) Burke, O’Fallon, Mo., Jeff (Jodie) Burke, Barnum, Iowa, Greg (Laura) Burke, Francisco, Ind., Kris (Bob) Huizenga, East Moline; Marsha Burke and Jenny (Brad) Hager, all of Davenport, and Brian Burke (Mark Letich), Burnsville, Minn.; her grandchildren, Anthony (Arielle) Howell, Megan Burke (Robby Hubbs), Sean Burke, Jason Burke (Ronda Larson), Jill (Dave) Dunn, Jenilee Burke, Joshua Burke, Amanda (Curt) Leek, Hannah Burke, Ben Burke (Afton Wagner), Alec Huizenga (Samantha Pauli), Dylan (Katelyn) Huizenga, Monica Huizenga (David Thomas), Bailey, Cole and Chase Hager, and Megan and Ryan Letich; 22 great-grandchildren; and her siblings, Mary Jo (Pat) Lennon, Oswego, Ill., and Jack (Theresa) Boysen, Clinton.

Memorials may be made to the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House.
