Obituary: Roscoe (Ross) Lance

A celebration of life service for Roscoe Lance, 81, of Davenport, was held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 11, at the Unitarian Church (UUCQC), Davenport, followed by a reception. The Runge Mortuary, Davenport, assisted the family with arrangements.

Mr. Lance died Monday, Jan. 6, 2020.

He was born in Grant, Neb., and graduated from the University of Nebraska – Lincoln in June of 1960.

He and his wife Judie were married Dec. 6, 1959.

He began work for John Deere at the Des Moines Works, where he was an industrial engineer analyst and production control supervisor. In 1965, he was transferred to the Moline Deere & Co. corporate personnel office department as a salary administrator, then as manager, office administration, and salary administrator for the general offices. He played a major role in the planning and start-up of the new and remodeled off premises facilities, culminating in the opening of the West Office building. He served as manager, administrative services, until his retirement in 1988. He later took a half-time position as office manager at the Bozeman, Neighbour, Patton and Noe law firm, retiring after six years.

His hobbies were traveling, home improvement, going to Figge Art Museum events, and attending QC Symphony and local theater productions.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Sue Killip; a son, John (Susan) Lance; his grandchildren, Austin and Audrey Killip, and Adam, Jack and Ella Lance; and a sister, Virginia Schroder.
