A funeral service for Ronald L. Durham Sr., 77, of Davenport, was held at noon on Friday, March 6, in the Runge Mortuary Chapel, Davenport. Burial was in Rock Island National Cemetery. Visitation was Thursday, March 5, from 4-7 p.m. at the mortuary.
Mr. Durham died Monday, March 2, 2020.
Ronald Durham was born Dec. 30, 1942, in Rock Island, the son of Eldo and Florence (Hoffmann) Durham.
He married Judith Baugher on July 2, 1966; they later divorced. He later married Susie Larson on Nov. 3, 1990, in Davenport.
He retired from Oscar Mayer in 1998 after 30 years of service.
He was a longtime member of the Davenport VFW #828.
His hobbies were camping, cooking, fishing, hunting, telling jokes, and watching NASCAR and racing.
Survivors include his wife, Susie; his children, Ron (Jenni) Durham Jr., Missy Varchola (Mike Richardson), and Chuck (Mandi) Durham; his stepsons, Ron LaMar and Gary LaMar; his grandchildren, Ashley Durham, Hunter Varchola, Connor Varchola, Daniel Durham, Gavin Durham, Parker Durham, Nicholas LaMar, Brittany (Chris) Hoffman, Alex LaMar, Jordan LaMar, and Zach LaMar; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Melissa Marie; a sister, Elizabeth Johnson; and a brother, Dennis Durham.
