Obituary: Robert Woods

A funeral service with military honors for Robert E. “Bob” Woods, 80, of Davenport, was held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, in the Runge Mortuary Chapel, Davenport. Burial was in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation was Friday, Jan. 4, from 4-7 p.m. at the mortuary.

Mr. Woods died Monday, Dec. 31, 2018, at The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City.

Robert Woods was born Aug. 4, 1938, in Davenport, the son of Ernest and Thelma (Thompson) Woods.

He married Carole Johnson on July 6, 1957, at the Little Brown Church, Nashua.

He served as an aircraft technician in the U.S. Air Force for 20 years, serving in Iceland, Panama, and twice in Vietnam.

His hobbies were fixing things, playing softball, bowling, horseshoes, racquetball, and running.

Survivors include his wife; his daughters, Kimberly Woods and Dana (Todd) Akers; his sons, Robert Woods and Jeffrey (Kristie) Woods; his grandchildren, Colton, Dallas, Triston, Cade and Mackenzie Akers; and a sister, Nancy Carson.

He was preceded in death by his sisters, Barb Thorndyke and Peg Peters; and a brother, Raymond Woods.
