Obituary: Robert Wenndt

A celebration of life service for Robert Wenndt, 86, of Davenport, was held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 4, at Risen Christ Lutheran Church, Davenport. Visitation was one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church. Inurnment will be in Davenport Memorial Park at a later date. The Runge Mortuary, Davenport, assisted the family with arrangements.

Mr. Wenndt died Saturday, April 27, 2019, at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf.

Robert Wenndt was born July 14, 1932, in Iowa City, the son of Paul and Martha (Kruckenberg) Wenndt.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict.

He married Mary Jean Noble on June 2, 1957.

He was self-employed for over 40 years.

He was a member of the Lowden American Legion and Risen Christ Lutheran Church, where he served as an elder for many years.

His hobbies were dancing, traveling, and playing Sheepshead.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Pam (Joe) Speer; four grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a brother-in-law, Jack Boley.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Marlene Boley.
