Obituary: Ricky Dykes

A memorial service for Ricky R. Dykes, 64, of Bettendorf, was held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 27, at the Runge Mortuary, Davenport. Visitation was two hours prior to the service on Thursday at the mortuary.

Mr. Dykes died Sunday, Sept. 23, 2018.

Ricky Dykes was born Aug. 21, 1954, in Davenport, the son of Raymond and Joy (Holder) Dykes. He graduated from Davenport Central High School in 1972, and attended Evangel University and Black Hawk Community College.

He was a hot line general supervisor at Alcoa, retiring in 2005 after 32 years. After his retirement, he did contractual work for Alcoa for another seven years.

His hobbies were spending time with family, cooking, fishing, biking, and woodworking.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth; his daughters, Toni (Eric) Woolard, Harrisburg, Ill., and Jennifer (Jenny) Dykes, Bettendorf; his grandchildren, Grayson, Avery, Caroline and Jake Woolard; and his sisters-in-law, Gwen Dykes and Carletta Dykes.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Larry and Terry Dykes.

Memorials may be made to King’s Harvest Ministries or to the family to help fund an angel tree for the holidays.
