Rebecca L. Swanson, age 63, peacefully passed away on June 1, 2019, in her home in Meridian, Idaho.  She was a loving wife, mother, and to all who knew her a true friend. Though she was a fighter, she lost her battle with cancer.  Rebecca’s positive attitude and love for others drew everyone she met to her.  She was a friend to all.  Her family and many loving friends were there for her throughout her battle.  The family wishes to thank all who cared for her with love, prayers, cards, gifts, meals, and hundreds of visits.  Even to the end, Becky gave comfort to others and she shared her faith and promised hope from the Bible.

Born in March 1956 to Lloyd and Jeanette Reid in Davenport, Rebecca grew up on a farm in Long Grove.  She cherished her memories of the farm and the love and direction in life that her parents instilled in her – the love of God, neighbor, and life on this beautiful planet.  She was the youngest daughter of seven children and had three brothers and three sisters.  She attended a single room elementary school until the 6th grade and went on to graduate from North Scott High School in Eldridge in 1974.  In July 1972, Rebecca was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. It was not a title but a way of life and to the very end she shared her faith with others.

On May 7, 1977, Rebecca married the love of her life, Alan Swanson. They enjoyed 42 wonderful years of love as they truly enjoyed being together.  Whether it was traveling, gathering with friends and family, or sharing their faith in the ministry work, Becky and Alan were inseparable. Together, they especially enjoyed entertaining.  You never left their home hungry or feeling that you were not special.  Becky had a special place in her heart for each and every person who passed through her doors.

Rebecca began her career working for a dentist and then a podiatrist, but she gave that up when she and Alan were blessed with their daughter, Stephanie, and son, Brooks.  Her goal was to be the best mother to them and she was truly devoted.  They brought her great joy, love, and happiness.  For the next 35 years, Becky perfected her craft as a photographer.  She enjoyed doing portraits and weddings. She accomplished her desire to capture precious memories in her photos and all who have them appreciate them and hold onto them dearly.

In 2015, Rebecca and Alan moved to Meridian to live near family and because it improved her health. There she enjoyed the beautiful mountains, valleys, and streams and felt truly blessed to live in such a beautiful place. She quickly made many new friends and always made time to be with them. Becky always treated others the way she wanted to be treated and her love of life, family and friends filled all her days with joy.

Our beloved Rebecca L. Swanson will truly be missed by her children, family and friends, and especially her devoted husband.  She never said goodbye, but see you soon!

Services will be held on June 29 at 3801 North Hillandale Road, Davenport, at 4 p.m. with reception to follow.
