Obituary: Ralph Tomlinson

A funeral service for Ralph G. Tomlinson, 89, of Wilton, was held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 6, at the Bentley Funeral Home, Wilton. Interment was in the Durant Cemetery. Visitation was Sunday, Aug. 5, from 2-4 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Tomlinson died Tuesday, July 31, 2018, at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf.

Ralph Tomlinson was born April 15, 1929, in Sabula, the son of Jesse and Helen (Werner) Tomlinson. He graduated from Packwood High School in 1947.

He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.

He married Kathleen Holmes on Nov. 17, 1957, in Walcott.

He retired from Occidental Petroleum Company, Buffalo, in 1991. In earlier years, he was a depot agent for the Rock Island Railroad.

Survivors include his wife; his children, Debbie (Dan) Jarrard, Nichols, Linda Schoonover, McCausland, June (Pete) Smith, Wilton, Michael (Annette) Tomlinson, Eldridge, and Amy (Tom) Niergarth, Holland, Mich.; 11 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Brian Schoonover; his sisters, Arlene Spinker and Gwen Wyman; and his brothers, Frank, LaMoine, and Edwin Tomlinson.

Memorials may be made to the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, the Durant Ambulance, or First Baptist Church of Muscatine.
