Obituary: Miriam Holden

A funeral service for Miriam B. Holden, 97, of Davenport, will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 10, in the Runge Mortuary Chapel, Davenport. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Friday at the mortuary. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park.

Mrs. Holden died Friday, Aug. 3, 2018, at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf.

Miriam Wallace was born May 9, 1921, in Waterloo, the daughter of Eugene and Mildred (Brown) Wallace.

She married Clarence Holden. He died in 1998.

She worked as a cook in the Davenport School System for many years.

Her hobbies were camping, spending time at lake homes, going to CASI, and spending time with her family.

Survivors include her children, Ron Holden and Steve Holden; her grandchildren, Zachary (Gina) Holden, Shawn (Amy) Hamerlinck, Jacob (Kayla) Holden, Shane (Lissa) Holden, Kimberly (Mike) Gillespie, and Jeff Holden; and 11 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by an infant son, Harold; a sister, June Abresh; and her brothers, Jack Wallace, Russell Wallace, and Max Wallace.
