Obituary: Marilyn Freking

A Mass of Christian Burial for Marilyn Dee Freking, 78, of Bettendorf, was held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 6, at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, Bettendorf. Burial was in Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation was Thursday, Sept. 5, from 4-7 p.m. at the Runge Mortuary, Davenport, where a prayer service was held at 3:30 p.m.

Mrs. Freking died Monday, Sept. 2, 2019, at Genesis East Medical Center, Davenport.

Marilyn Stevens was born March 31, 1941, in Fort Dodge, the daughter of Dee and Mary (Nelson) Stevens.

She married Mike Freking on March 3, 1960.

She had worked for the Bettendorf School District and also owned a cake decorating business.

She was active in her church and was president of the Auxiliary of the Enlisted Association of the Iowa National Guard.

Her hobbies were crafts and ceramics.

Survivors include her husband; her children, Ken Freking, Kevin (Tara) Freking, and Katherine (Allan) Carroll; her grandchildren, Riley, Wyatt, and Weston Freking, and Adrianna and Chloe Carroll; and a sister, Lucy Cooper.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Joyce.
