Obituary: Louise Sheley

A funeral service for Louise Dorothy Sheley, 98, of Davenport, was held at noon on Thursday, March 14, in the Runge Mortuary Chapel, Davenport. Visitation was one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the mortuary. Burial was in Davenport Memorial Park.

Mrs. Sheley died Monday, March 11, 2019.

Louise Kolln was born Feb. 6, 1921, in Westside, Iowa, the daughter of John and Edith (Moll) Kolln. She graduated from Westside High School in 1938.

She was married to James Sheley. He died Feb. 13, 1993.

She was a computer operator at the former Bear Manufacturing Company in Rock Island, and retired from the Iowa State University EFNEP Program in 1986.

She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday school. She was also a member of the Plus 60 Club, Ladies of the Moose, Caldron and the Women’s International Bowling Congress.

Her hobbies were working with houseplants, mall walking, bowling, dancing, and volunteering.

Survivors include her daughter, Vicki Weber; her grandchildren, Jennifer (Jason) Johnson, Jessica and Brian; three great-grandchildren; and her sisters, Louine Nave, Harrisonville, Mo., Leola (Donald) Sydzyik and Lorraine Kolln, all of Council Bluffs, and Lillian Poublon, Oshkosh, Wis.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son-in-law, George Weber, and her brothers, Ernest, Eldon, Arnold, and Raymond.

Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
