Lorene Stroud
Lorene E. Stroud, 94, of Davenport, died Friday, Oct. 27, 2017, at Genesis Medical Center, East Campus in Davenport.
Her funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 2, at Grandview Baptist Church in Davenport, where she was a member. Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday (today) at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. Burial will be in Oakdale Memorial Gardens in Davenport. Memorials may be made to Grandview Baptist Church to assist with the church mission programs.
Lorene was born Aug. 23, 1923, in Plano, Iowa, the daughter of George and Bessie (Elder) Bennett. She was united in marriage to Jasper Boyd Stroud on Dec. 25, 1940, in Russell, Iowa. He preceded her in death on Jan. 29, 2004.
A busy homemaker, Lorene will be remembered for her exceptional baking. A loving wife and mother, she loved her grandchildren, teaching them the values of love, joy, patience and gentleness. Lorene was a prayer warrior for her church’s congregation.
Those left to honor Lorene’s memory include her daughter and son-in-law, Darlene and Gary Padavich of Centerville, Iowa; her son and daughter-in-law, Dale and Janet Stroud of Springfield, Ohio; her son, Don Stroud of Long Grove; and her daughter and son-in-law, Deloris and Jim McGimpsey of Eldridge; eight grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband Boyd, Lorene was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Letha, Mamie, Mae, Opal, Cleo and Floy; her brothers, Oscar, Harley, Glen and Vernon; and her daughter-in-law, Ilene Stroud.
