Obituary: Lois Lundvall

A funeral service for Lois B. Lundvall, 103, of Davenport, was held at noon on Friday, May 25, in the Runge Mortuary Chapel, Davenport. Visitation was one hour prior to the service on Friday at the mortuary. Burial was in Rock Island National Cemetery.

Mrs. Lundvall died Sunday, May 20, 2018.

She was born in Sioux City. She earned a master’s degree in church music from Northwestern University, and a teaching certificate from Western Illinois University.

She married Howard Lundvall in 1940. He died in 2010. 

She was an organist at First Congregational Church in Moline. She taught music for 10 years in Elk Grove, Ill., and was an organist and choir director in the Chicago suburbs for many years. After retirement, the couple returned to the Quad Cities, and she was an organist at the First Lutheran Church and Broadway Presbyterian Church in Rock Island, and a pianist at the Unitarian Church in Davenport.

She was involved with the Music Students/Etude Club in the Quad Cities, and was recognized for many years of service by the Blackhawk Chapter of the American Guild of Organists. She and her husband were members of St. Mark Evangelical Lutheran Church, Davenport.

Survivors include a daughter, Marian (Robert); a sister-in-law, Helen; and nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Marian; and a brother, Les.

Memorials may be made to St. Mark Evangelical Lutheran Church.
