A funeral service for Leo Anderson, 77, of Davenport, will be held at noon on Thursday, May 16, in the Runge Mortuary Chapel, Davenport. Burial with military honors will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation will be Wednesday, May 15 (today), from 5-8 p.m. at the mortuary.
Mr. Anderson died Sunday, May 12, 2019, at The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City.
Leo Anderson was born June 17, 1941, in Davenport, the son of Edwin and Jane (Ade) Anderson.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy Reserves and the Marine Corps.
He married Laurel Gilbert in June of 1966.
He was a member of the Davenport Fire Department.
He attended two Honor Flights. In his younger years, he coached Little League.
His hobbies were watching sports, playing softball, bowling, and spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include his children, Mike Anderson (Linda Sloan), Kristina Anderson (Kenneth Brown), and Doug (Rachel) Anderson; his grandchildren, Rachel and Hailey Anderson, Mitchell Midkiff, Josh Escobedo (Celina Velez), and Ethan (Krisbel) Escobedo; his sisters, Donna Schebler and Wanda Hunnicut; and his former spouse, Laurel Anderson.
He was preceded in death by a son, Scott, and his sisters, Linda Goff and Mary Miller.
Memorials may be made to the Davenport Fire Department Honor Guard or the Davenport Fire Department Antique and Restoration Society.
