Obituary: Kenneth Trafton

A funeral service for Kenneth Lee Trafton, 73, of Ames, formerly of Walcott, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 22 (today) at the Bentley Funeral Home, Durant. Interment will be in the Walcott Cemetery. Visitation was Tuesday, Nov. 21, from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Trafton died Sunday, Nov. 19, 2017, at his home.

Kenneth Trafton was born July 6, 1944, in Muscatine, the son of Bertram and Mabel (McCully) Trafton. He graduated from Wilton High School in 1963.

He served in the Iowa National Guard from 1965-1971.

He married Maureen Speer on Nov. 7, 1981, in Durant.

He retired from the ALCOA machine shop in 1996 after 31 years. He retired from Navistar in Indianapolis in 2002.

He was a member of the American Legion Post 548 of Walcott since 1970. He was also a member of the Walcott Jaycees, the Walcott Lions, the Davenport Bowling Association, and the Elks Club of Warsaw, Mo.

His hobbies were traveling with his wife in their RV, meeting new people, bowling, woodworking, and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife; his daughters, Connie (Dan) Wulf, Tipton, Jodi Teel, Eldridge, and Michelle (Mike) Mausser, Steamboat Rock; a stepson, Jason (Annie) Williamson, Norwalk, Iowa; 12 grandchildren, TJ (Andi) Teel, Derek Latimer, Emily (Matt) Tyler, Hope, Aubrey, Connor, Carter, Olivia, Mady, Hayley, Sam, and Luke; four great-grandchildren; and a brother, Keith Trafton, Wapello.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Ann Ogle, a brother-in-law, John Ogle, and a sister-in-law, Sue Trafton.

Memorials may be made to the Mary Greeley Israel Hospice House of Ames, or the Stoddard Cancer Center.
