Obituary: Karen Voss

A memorial service for Karen L. Voss, 74, of Bettendorf, was held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, at St. James Lutheran Church, Bettendorf. Visitation was one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church. Per her wishes, cremation rites were accorded. The Runge Mortuary, Davenport, assisted the family with arrangements.

Mrs. Voss died Monday, Jan. 21, 2019, at Unity Point Hospital, Bettendorf.

Karen Brookhouser was born Aug. 17, 1944, in Omaha, Neb., the daughter of Jack and Louise (Jourdan) Brookhouser. She graduated from Davenport West High School in 1962.

She married Fritz Voss on Aug. 17, 1991, in Nashua, Iowa.

She worked for The Quad-City Times as a classified clerk from 1971-1991. She worked at the Quad Cities Credit Bureau as a regional collections manager from 1991-2001. She was CEO and office manager for JR Custom Machine and Metal.

She was a past president of the ABWA, past president of AMS, council president of St. James Lutheran Church, and a member of St. James Lutheran Church.

Her hobbies were playing video poker, reading, visiting hospitals, helping people, spending time with her family, and playing cards with friends.

Survivors include her husband; her sons, Adam (Richelle) Roethler and Rodney Roethler; and seven grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to King’s Harvest Animal Shelter or the Scott County Humane Society.
