Obituary: John White

A funeral service for John Edward White, 65, of Davenport, was held at noon on Monday, July 16, in the Runge Mortuary Chapel, Davenport. Burial was in Oakdale Memorial Gardens, Davenport. Visitation was Sunday, July 15, from 2-6 p.m. at the mortuary, with additional visitation two hours prior to the service on Monday at the mortuary.

Mr. White died Thursday, July 12, 2018, at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf.

John White was born June 1, 1953, in Davenport, the son of Virgil and Johnadine (Alsman) White.

He married Donna Meinhardt on Jan. 27, 1996, in New York.

He worked at Alcoa in Davenport and Texas for many years as an industrial electrician, and later as a safety trainer and new hire trainer.

He was active in the Boy Scouts, IBEW, United Way, Quad City Federation of Labor – AFL/CIO, and Adventure Christian Church, where he played guitar in church bands.

His hobbies were researching genealogy and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife; his children, Christina (Anthony) Brasher, Joshua White, Daniel (Lauren) White, Cassandra Mea, and Susanna (J.R.) Castro; his grandchildren, Jayvin White, Cooper White, River Brasher, Kaitlyn Castro, Alice Lee White and Harlan White; and his siblings, Jeff (Nancy) White, Jolene (Steve) Lierly, and Karen (Matt) Ring.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and Nancy White and Johnadine and Bernard Hanten, and a brother, Bernard “Buddy” Hanten.
