Obituary: Joanne Klever

Joanne Elizabeth Klever, 89, of Eldridge, formerly of DeWitt, died Thursday, Feb. 21, 2019, at Grand Haven Retirement Community, Eldridge. A service with burial in Elmwood Cemetery, DeWitt, will be held in the spring. Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt, is assisting the family with arrangements.

Joanne Peters was born Feb. 1, 1930, in Clinton, the daughter of John and Bernice (Beil) Peters. She graduated from DeWitt High School in 1948.

She married Merrill Klever on June 12, 1949, in DeWitt. He died in September of 1991.

The couple farmed near DeWitt, Eldridge, and Davis City, Iowa.

She was a lifelong member of the R.L.D.S. Church.

Her hobbies were farming, planting flowers, feeding the birds, and collecting flower frogs.

Survivors include her children, Dan (Robbie) Klever, Davis City, Dennis (Debra) Klever, Lamoni, Kathy (Paul) Williams, Sibley, Mo., and Lori (Ken) Suiter, DeWitt; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, David Peters, Maquoketa.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two grandchildren and a sister, Patricia Fink.
