Obituary: JoAnn Stoefen

JoAnn Bernice (Levetzow) Stoefen passed away on Oct. 29, 2018, after battling a long-term illness.

JoAnn was born on May 21, 1937, to Arthur and Malinda Levetzow in a farmhouse on the Model Dairy farm in west Davenport. JoAnn married James Stoefen on April 14, 1956. JoAnn graduated from Davenport High School. She retired from Local 387 Plumbers and Pipefitters.

She was preceded in death by parents Arthur and Malinda, her brothers Robert Levetzow, Earl Levetzow, Harvey Levetzow, Walter Levetzow, her in-laws Leroy and Bernice Stoefen, brother-in-laws Walter Quick, Elmer Noll, and Bill Hess and sister-in-law Arline Levetzow.

JoAnn is survived by her husband James, brother Ralph (Betty) Levetzow, sisters Elsie Quick, Betty Noll, Darlene (Carl) Rahlf, Carol Hess, Ruth Behan, sisters-in-law Carol Ann Levetzow and Viola Levetzow, children Janet Stoefen, Jerry (Susan) Stoefen, Joyce Morrison, five grandchildren, Jacob (Anne) Stoefen, Matthew (Troy Stark) Stoefen, Jevon (Karen) Hinkley, Joseph Stoefen, Samuel Morrison, and four great-grandchildren, Joie and Jackson Stoefen, Victoria and James Hinkley. And many wonderful nieces and nephews.

JoAnn spent many hours with her grand kids. Memories of those times will hold a special place in their hearts forever. She enjoyed fishing, dancing, socializing, cooking, crocheting, and visits to casinos.

The family would like to thank Good Samaritan Home, Genesis East Medical Floor and Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House for the great care she received during her final stages of life.

Per her wishes, no visitation or services are planned. Interment will be at Walcott Cemetery.
