Obituary: Ida Hicks Iske Sovey

A celebration of life service for Ida Hicks Iske Sovey, 87, of Moline, was held at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 16, at Edgewood Baptist Church, Rock Island. Visitation was one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church. The Runge Mortuary, Davenport, assisted the family with arrangements.

Mrs. Iske Sovey died Monday, Nov. 12, 2018, at Genesis East Medical Center, Davenport.

Ida Hicks was born Jan. 21, 1931, in Raymondville, Mo., the daughter of Sophus and Maggie (Crowley) Hicks.

She married Rex Iske on July 7, 1950, in Clinton. They later divorced. She later married Glenn Sovey. Both husbands preceded her in death.

She worked at Kay-Bee’s clothing in Davenport and the Viking’s Club in Moline.

Her hobbies were going to the casinos, spending time with friends, playing cards and dominoes, and gambling.

Survivors include her children, Barbara Rodgers, Rock Island, Don (Connie) Iske, Loves Park, Ill., Dorothy (Dan) Jackson, Davenport, and Ron (Carol) Iske, Des Moines; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; a sister, Pearl (Jim) Andrew, Palisade, Neb.; and her brothers, Lawrence (Velma Mae) Hicks, Waynesville, Mo., and Dale Hicks, Mountain Grove, Mo.

In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Doris Herbeck.
