Obituary: Helen Miller

Helen C. Miller, 94, of Dixon, passed away peacefully in her home Tuesday, Feb. 25 2020.  Funeral services were held Saturday, Feb. 29, at 10 a.m. at The Runge Mortuary in Davenport.  Memorials may be made in Helen’s honor to the Dixon Fire Department. Visitation was Friday Feb. 28, from 4-7 p.m. at The Runge Mortuary.  Online condolences may be expressed at www.rungemortuary.com.

Helen was born July 24, 1925, in Donahue to Roy and Leila (Rohwer) Curtis.  She was united in marriage to Robert Miller on Nov. 26, 1944, in McCausland.  In November they celebrated 75 years of absolute wedding bliss!

Helen was a loving housewife, mom and family woman. She was a wonderful baker and cook.  She enjoyed working with kids as a 4H leader and also taught her kids how to drive farm machinery.  Helen loved the farm and her horses, especially Belgians.   She was a very giving woman and held everything together.   She loved sports and was an avid Cubs, Bears and Hawkeye fan!  There was rarely a day that she would miss her favorite T.V. show, As the World Turns. She was a member of multiple card clubs and loved to play 500.  Helen adored square dancing with her husband and children.

Helen will be deeply missed by her husband, children; Betty (Jim) Engel, Beverly Watts, Kevin (Jill) Miller, two brothers; Ben Curtis, David Curtis, one sister; Margaret Claeys, grandchildren; Ellen, Curt, Andy, Rose, Patrick, Meghan, Jake and nine great-grandchildren.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents, brothers; Ray Curtis, Ralph Curtis, Robert Curtis, Martin Curtis, sister; Ruth Starr, son-in-law; Larry Watts.
