Grace Wathan, 97, of Davenport, formerly of Durant, died Friday, May 10, 2019, at the Kahl Home, Davenport. No services will be held. The Runge Mortuary, Davenport, is assisting the family with arrangements.
Grace Petersen was born Sept. 11, 1921, in Muscatine County, the daughter of Arnold and Vera (Kautz) Petersen.
She married Cecil Wathan on Nov. 1, 1941. He died April 8, 1985.
She was a teacher in a one-room schoolhouse and later a substitute teacher at other schools.
Her hobbies were spending time in her flower garden, shopping, and spending time with her family and children.
Survivors include a daughter, Ann Nordeen, Apache Junction, Ariz.; a son, Joe Wathan, Durant; six grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Janet (Don) Duncan, Muscatine.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Don Wathan, and her siblings, Floyd Petersen and Eunice Fahy.
